Introducing Hart Farm C.S.A 2021!

Hello Downeast Maine! Our names are Andrew and Becky and we are the new owners of the 160 acre Hart Farm at 430 Copeland Hill Road in Holden, ME. We are overjoyed at the opportunity to get to know our immediate community by becoming dependable producers of affordable and nutritionally dense foods.

We purchased the farm with easements, held by the Holden Land Trust and the Maine Farmland Trust, ensuring that our property has miles of maintained public trails as well as continuing the unique agricultural heritage of the area.

It is with great excitement that we are now introducing the 2021 Hart Farm C.S.A! "C.S.A" stands for Community Supported Agriculture and is a system for providing fresh farm foods direct to the consumer while providing farmers with capital for the many upfront costs of operating a farm.

How it works:

We are offering 30 total shares for 2021.

A share costs $500.00 (or $25.00 per week) and is paid during the winter (February 1st 2021)

The C.S.A runs for 20 weeks (May 16-October 1st)

C.S.A Members show up to the farm every Saturday to pick up their box of food. Every week the boxes are a little different as we reach peak season for each produce item. You can expect ample salad greens, all of the familiar vegetables, big and small fruits, pastured chicken eggs, as well as honey from Russian bees kept on the farm.

Abundance is Our Guarantee: Every C.S.A box that you pick up as our customer is worth well over the average retail cost of $25 per week. The C.S.A box can satisfy the weekly produce for a family of 2-3 people.

Benefits of the C.S.A Model: By creating a guaranteed market for our produce and eliminating the middleman we are able to plan for and maximize cost efficiency for the customer. The C.S.A model allows for peak freshness because everything is harvested day-of as opposed to being shipped from around the world. The C.S.A also allows our farm business to turn a profit before the season even begins, creating the opportunity to continually invest into developing and improving the farm.
